According to Mr Pu Hongjiu the chairman of China’s Coal Industry Association, with so much exclamation 16 years ago relevant government officials were picturing a large scale coal base somewhere in China’s eastern coastal areas and today which is 16 year’s later.
He said that "I’m so glad to see this dream that had been budding 16 year’s ago has finally come true."What stands at northeast of Hengdao, Zhejiang province is truly a large-scale coal base with a total investment of CNY 2.87 billion.
It has a 150,000 tonne grade and a 50,000 tonne grade downloading berth, a 35,000 tonne grade, 20,000 ton grade and 5,000 tonne grade uploading berth. The designed yearly capacities of downloading and uploading remain at both 15 million tonnes.
With its stock held and built by Zhejiang Energy Group, the harbor is operated by Zhoushan coal electricity company subordinated by the group.
The establishment of the harbor is expected to greatly strengthen the anti-rise capability of coal and power sectors in Zhejiang. With a throughput of 30 million tonnes per year, the harbor is expected to resolve the coal resource deficiency that long-existed in Zhejiang as well as in Jiangsu and Fujan etc.
