Mining Industry Resources (MIR), established in 1994, is an Australian-based company that develops, implements and maintains fuel management systems for the mining industry and other markets.

We strive to be the best fuel management system (FMS) service provider in the mining industry, which we achieve by continually engaging with our clients and committing to a continuous product improvement program. Our single corporate objective is to provide our clients with the best possible fuel (and energy) management system in the world.

Fuel management system development

MIR was originally a service provider for the installation of the SMART fuel management system and in 1998 took over the sales and service support of the product. When MIR purchased the SMART product range and intellectual property in 2005, it realised the SMART technology was outdated and could not keep pace with increased client demands. As a result, MIR met with its major clients in 2005 to define exactly what was required from the ‘next generation’ of fuel management
systems.

With ongoing technical support of its clients, MIR embarked on a rapid development path that led to the release of the AdaptFMS product at the AMEX mining show in Sydney 2007, which represented an entirely new approach to fuel management – for both hardware and software. The success of the AdaptFMS product has exceeded all expectations but confirmed the value of our decision to work with our clients in designing the product.

Fuel delivery / usage monitoring and site reconciliation system

Developed by MIR after more than 15 years experience in the fuel management industry, AdaptFMS is the complete fuel management solution. The system has a range of modules linked to a single database for accurate fuel delivery / usage monitoring and site reconciliation:

Fuel management system hardware

The AdaptFMS field hardware has been developed to under the toughest conditions. The developers selected field PC hardware and electrical components that have proven track records in the harshest of environments. Rugged enclosures and a heavy-duty, sealed user interface (keypad) ensure it will perform reliably in any conditions.

AdaptFMS has the following features:

Flexibility - designed with future expansion in mind; new software updates for the field hardware can be installed remotely.
Greater capacity – each dispensing point can monitor any number products and storage tank levels
Communications options – supports Ethernet, RS232, WiFi 802.11 (A, B, G), radio modems, CDMA and GSM / GPRS modems
Survivability – electronic components are designed to operate under the harshest of conditions, from –40ºC to +85ºC

Internet-based fuel management software

AdaptFMS’ software is a new, internet-based package that can work with all of the most commonly used databases, including SQL, Oracle and MySQL. It allows the client access to their fuel management data via the internet anytime, anywhere. It can also give your fuel supplier direct (and secure) access to the fuel storage tank data to improve their delivery scheduling. Any storage tank high or low-level alarms can be sent instantly to anyone you choose.

Being an internet-based package, MIR can offer an unrivalled level of remote client support. We can ‘drill down’ to each AdaptFMS field device – no matter where it is in the world – to change settings, run health checks and/or perform any tests to ensure trouble-free operation.
